There is no better way to start 2016 than with a new Cooking in Manhattan video!
This holiday season has been quite hectic for me, so I feel like I have been missing in action on the website and social media. But I have to admit that I was a little burned out again. It looks like the resolution I made at the beginning of 2015 didn’t stick after all. I wanted to learn how to take better care of myself by taking a break every now and again, but always end up biting more than I can chew. This has come to the detriment of many aspects: sleep, posting consistently on the site, seeing friends. I really can’t blame motherhood for this. Baby Lemonade is a good girl and she eats regular food (no more baby food and purees for her) so this is all me. I need to learn to prioritize better and make time for the things I love, too. Does that sound like a new year resolution? I am not sure: I struggle with that all the time and I guess it is the ongoing battle that every mom goes through on a daily basis.
But let’s talk about Cooking in Manhattan, shall we? This video is a traditional crowdpleaser at parties and aside from the pizza dough the filling is really only up to you. I started making it because my friend Alessandro told me his wife made an amazing Stromboli. So I reached out to Stephanie and I got inspired (she is a very skilled cook/baker so it’s easy to get inspired by what she makes). On top of that, Scarpitta, one of my favorite Italian restaurants, features stromboli in its bread basket and it is one of the highlights of every meal there. I have been making this recipe on an off for about 2 years and while easy and versatile it comes out perfectly every time.
Happy 2016 everybody! What’s your resolution?
